Requirements For Participation

  1. This competition is open to both local and international participants.
  2. Individuals or teams of not more than 4 members and 1 team leader (maximum total of 5 persons per team) are welcome to take part in the competition.
  3. In the tertiary and school student levels, the teams should have not more than 4 members and 1 teacher-in-charge (maximum total of 5 persons per team). A team leader should be chosen from the team members.
  4. Collaborative efforts with industries are encouraged without Intellectual Property (IP) infringement.
  5. The organizer has the right to reject any application it deems unsuitable for the competition.
  6. Invention: Design of new product, service, system, or process that has never been created before.
  7. Innovation: Innovation of item (product or service), system, or process that is to be improved.
  8. Design: New design, visual product or artwork.
  9. The following exhibits are however, not accepted for this competition:
    1. An invention/innovation/design which is a duplication of others.
    2. An invention/innovation/design which may provoke public’s sensitivity or may contain values that are in contrary to moral and public health and welfare.
    3. An invention/innovation/design which may be a subject matter of any Intellectual Property (IP) disputes or contentions.
  10. Exhibitors must complete a separate entry form for each invention which they wish to exhibit. Only one invention is allowed for each form.
  11. Exhibitors are responsible to obtain Intellectual Property (IP) protection for their exhibitions.
  12. The registration (together with an abstract) should be submitted online to the BiiDE committee by 10 April 2018.
  13. Once the entry form has been accepted and the registration is confirmed by the committee, the exhibitor is obliged to pay the total amount of fees within the allocated time frame. Please refer to BiiDE 2018 website for further details on payment methods.
  14. Exhibitors who withdraw their participation after the registration deadline must pay the whole amount of their invoiced fees.
  15. All particulars submitted in the entry form (including abstract) are accepted as they are. The BiiDE 2018 committee will not be responsible for any errors in the translation or wording of descriptions published in the online Abstract Book with ISBN.
  16. The organizer will also not be responsible for any loss, theft, damage (due to fire or other causes) or personal injury suffered during or after the exhibition or in transit.
  17. The participants should further agree to release and acquit the organizer for all actions, causes of actions, claims or damages of whatever kind, including the negligence of the organizer arising out of participating in this programme.
  18. The decisions of the panel of judges for the competition are final. The panel of judges or the organizer are not liable in respect of any matters which arise from or connected to the results or conduct in organizing the competition.
